Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Nancy Taylor
I am excited to be here at Wills Point Middle School as the new school counselor! I have a Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree from Lamar University in School Counseling.
Before coming to Wills Point as a counselor, I taught 2nd and 3rd grades in Houston, TX as well as 4th grade in Crandall, TX. I worked with 5th and 6th grade students during my school counselor internship. I've worked with many students during my career as an educator and I love working with the individual to help them reach their fullest potential. Being able to help a student progess past their obstacles and move toward their goals makes my job the best job in the world.
Each month, I teach guidance lessons to all of our students during their library time. Guidance lessons include: getting to know the counselor, being drug free and bully free, conflict resolution, responsibility, learning our unique gifts and resilience.
Words of the Month
Every month, we have a new word of the month put up in the cafeteria. We talk about the word and its meaning at the beginning of the month and then celebrate students who were good examples of the word at the end of the month. Words that we have discussed are: kindness, safety, responsibility, gratitude, respectful and resilience.
During lunch, I pull a few students at a time to come to my office for lunch bunch or a small group counseling session. We work on skills such as: conflict resolution, anxiety, self control, self esteem, social skills, etc.
