Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Laura Childress
I am so excited about my new assignment for the 2018-2019 of teaching 5th grade Math! I love 5th graders and am looking forward to sharpening our math skills this year!
I have been teaching at Wills Point Middle School since Fall 2013. A graduate from UNT in December 1999, I received my Bachelor's of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, receiving a teacher certification in grades 1st-8th with a Reading Specialization. My teaching assignments have included Kindergarten Reading Intervention, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, (where I taught all subjects) and 5th, 6th, and 7th grades (where I taught ELAR), and I have tutored all elementary grades in Reading and Math to help students to be prepared for state testing for a couple of years.
I received my Master of Arts degree from Grand Canyon University in February 2015 in Christian Studies with an emphasis on Christian Leadership. I enjoyed being a leader the first two and half years of Ladies of Honor on our campus.
My goal for my students is to leave my classroom at the end of the year knowing they were loved unconditionally and that they are valuable individuals. It is very important to learn the content in the classroom as a foundation for additional learning in coming years, but my hope is that they not only learn the content, but that they learn they are important and valued and can accomplish anything they set their mind to do!
