Senate Bill 12 Compliance Certification

As part of the agenda item, the Board will review, deliberate, and vote to certify to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that West ISD complies with the requirements outlined in SB 12.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM in the Wills Point ISD Administration Building at 338 WN Commerce St Wills Point, Texas 75169. Members of the public are invited to provide public comment on the compliance report prior to the Board vote.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of Wills Point ISD will consider approval of the district’s annual Certification of Compliance under Texas Education Code §39.008 (Senate Bill 12) during its September Regular Board Meeting on September 21, 2026.

Agenda Item Summary: The Board of Trustees will review, deliberate, and vote on certifying to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that Wills Point ISD complies with:

  • Texas Education Code §11.005: Prohibitions on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) roles, departments, training, and preferential practices.
  • Texas Education Code §28.0022: Instructional standards, restrictions on sexual orientation/gender identity instruction, and parental consent requirements.
  • Cost Impact Reporting: Verification of operational impacts and cost savings ($0 net savings).
  • Public Testimony: Members of the public are invited to provide public comment on this compliance report prior to the Board vote.
